Mrs. Brittany Atkins has been teaching for 8 years, the last 5 here at Cross Lanes Christian School. She teaches 2nd grade. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from West Virginia State University. She and her husband Jeremy have two children, Lane and Lacey.
She is a member of Teays Valley Missionary Baptist Church where Rev. John Smith is the Pastor. Mrs. Atkins is very musically talented and often sings in evangelistic services conducted at various regional churches by her husband. As a teenager she sang in the teen choir, provided special music, plays the piano, and is s part of her family ministry team. She leads the singing in Elementary chapel at CLCS.
Mrs. Atkins was lead to the Lord by her former Pastor, Dave VanHorn. As a 6 year old Pastor VanHorn shared the gospel with her and she accepted Christ as her Savior at Rich Fork Baptist Church. She reports that she has definitely experienced the leading of the Holy Spirit in her life. “It’s the best decision I’ve ever made,” she says.
Her life’s verse is found in Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him and he shall direct thy paths.”
The Atkins’ love camping and being outdoors. Mrs. Atkins loves cross-stitching, art projects, cooking, baking, watching movies, and basically spending time as a family.
She loves teaching because she loves children. She states that “She loves teaching new concepts and watching them gain knowledge in the classroom and using it in life.” She thoroughly enjoys hearing the student’s stories and their creative ideas. Children are a heritage unto the Lord and it is a personal blessing to be privileged to work with them.
Teaching at CLCS has afforded Mrs. Atkins the opportunity to combine the two loves of her life, Jesus and children, into a career. Having once taught in the public sector, she recalls being confined and restricted to share her faith. Being able to teach students, at CLCS, from God’s Word and helping them to understand the intricacies of life are cherished moments as a Christian School teacher. CLCS is a special blessing to her and her family. “I look forward to coming to work every morning.” One of the highlights of Mrs. Atkins’ life is being able to lead students to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. Mrs. Atkins has followed God’s call on her life to be a Christian School teacher and she is changing eternity one soul at a time.
Congratulations on being selected as the Teacher in the Spotlight.
