The graduation ceremony for the Class of 2024 was held in the CLCS gymnasium Saturday, May 25. Miss Margaina Haynes, student body president, passed the Benaiah Award to next year‘s student body president, Mr. Evan Dunlap. Dr. Mitri Ghareeb, director of development, presented CLCS Honorary Alumni awards to Jon and Melissa Duffy, and the Robert A. Canterbury Warrior’s Heart Volunteer Award to Mr. Jeff Velepec. Edward Riley, administrator, presented the Teacher of the Year award to Mrs. Rhonda Witmer, CLCS teacher of nine years.
Mr. Nathan Argento, valedictorian, and Mr. Alex Garner, salutatorian, presented speeches. Also, Mr. Gavin Duffy was chosen from this year’s speech class to speak at the ceremony. Pastor of Cross Lanes Bible Church, Dr. Dave Buckley, was the speaker for the ceremony.
Mr. Riley presented the graduates with their diplomas as Mrs. Sumiko Clark, dean of women and high school science teacher, read each graduate’s biography recognizing their awards, academic accomplishments, and future plans. Carter Campbell, senior class president, led the class in the traditional turning of the tassel. Mrs. Sherry Stevens provided piano music for the evening. Congratulations, Class of 2024!
