Our Educator in the Spotlight for March 1-15 is Mrs. Rhonda Witmer. Mrs. Witmer is married to the Rev. Ray Witmer and they serve at Twin City Bible Church where Ray is Associate Pastor. They have four daughters: Rachel Witmer Fellure, Rebecca Witmer McDaniel, Ruthie Witmer, and Rylee Witmer. She is the grandmother to four “beautiful and brilliant” grandchildren. Mrs. Witmer has been teaching for 9 years, the past 6 at CLCS. She teaches Art, WV History, Girl’s Health and PE. Mrs. Witmer has a BA in counselling from Bob Jones University.

Mrs. Witmer was saved at the age of 6 after class devotions at her Elementary school, Asheville Christian Academy. The teaching of the Lord’s Table created an interest and questions about Jesus. Fortunately, her parents and church leadership were able to open God’s Word and provide answers. Rhonda says, “God used His Word, my parents, my Church, and my Christian School to draw me to Himself—to realize that I was a sinner in need of Jesus as my Savior.”

Mrs. Witmer’s life verses are found in Psalm 121:1-2, “I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills from whence cometh my help, my help comes from the Lord who made Heaven and earth.” She loves sharing the Word of God to encourage others. Her hobbies include art, sowing, reading, flowers, plants, travel, history, teaching, and Biblical studies.

She loves teaching at CLCS because “the faculty and student body have become an extension of my earthly family and firmly established through Abba Father as part of my spiritual family. I love, respect, and enjoy the teachers, Administration, and staff that I get to work with daily.”

Mrs. Witmer loves young people and it is evident that each one has a special place in her heart. She has a love for teaching because of an equal love of learning. She has commented that one of the greatest blessings in her life (apart from her family) is to see how God continuously changes lives and situations. After teaching for years, she has reaped the benefit of her teaching by noting the decisions that many of her former students have made to follow the Lord. “I enjoy my students,” she declares and may I say that her students enjoy her.

Congratulations of being selected as the Teacher in the Spotlight.
