2021 Educator of the Year Award

The recipient of this award has played an instrumental role in the success of CLCS over the past 6 years. She has been an educator for 20 years.  She currently serves CLCS as the fourth grade teacher and the Elementary Supervisor.

She and her husband, Shaun, are active members of Cross Lanes Bible Church where she sings in the choir. Shaun works for KOMAX Business Systems and is the interim Pastor at Putney Church in Charleston. They have two boys at CLCS, Christian a rising 8th grader and Caleb a rising 7th grader. She is known for her hospitality. She is a great helper and is sensitive to the needs of her church.

It is evident that she loves to teach. Her students love her. She is a God fearing and praying lady. One teacher reported that the “light of Christ shines through her. She goes above and beyond for her students and parents by making herself available to them on weekdays, weekends, mornings, or whenever it is convenient for them.” She does not believe in allowing a student to fail. She will take extra measures to help struggling students to experience success.  Some characteristics that her colleagues use to describe her are dependable, loyal, outgoing, kind, dedicated and hard working. She is very conscientious about her leadership position as elementary supervisor and is willing to take on new challenges with great enthusiasm. One of the new elementary teachers said, “She is a great mentor during my first year teaching, she is a wonderful example of a Godly teacher.”

She is a former Miss West Virginia in 1995. She holds a BS from West Virginia State in Chemistry and Psychology. Her smile and positive attitude is contagious.   If there was a Mrs. Congeniality award for teachers, she would win it, hands down.

Please join with me to honor and congratulate the 2021 CLCS Educator of the Year: Mrs. Libby Shamblin.
