Our Educator in the Spotlight for June 1-15
Mrs. Crystal Reynolds
Mrs. Crystal Reynolds is the Teacher in the Spotlight for June 1-15, 2020. Mrs. Reynolds has been teaching for 12 years, the last 8 at Cross Lanes Christian School. She is the Kindergarten teacher. She and her husband, Dr. Billy Reynolds (DDS) have two daughters, Eden and Kingsley. Eden is a senior and Kingsley is an 8th grader at CLCS.
Mrs. Reynolds previously taught at Cheat Lake Elementary and Westwood Middle School. She has her undergrad degree in Elementary Education from West Virginia State University and has a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from West Virginia University. She loves spending time supporting her daughters in the things that they are involved in whether its volleyball, basketball, or softball. Go Warriors! Perhaps something you did not know about Mrs. Reynolds is that she is ambidextrous (that means she can use either hand equally)!
The Reynolds family are members of Cross Lanes Baptist Church where Dr. Seth Polk and Brandon Carter are the Pastors. At Cross Lanes Baptist Church she is the director of the Sprout’s Children’s ministry and serves in the nursery on Sundays. She is a growing Christian and says “I understood and admitted through confession that I was a sinner. I believed that Jesus is God’s Son who came to earth and died for my sins. He was buried, resurrected and is coming again. I was obedient in baptism and am growing in the process of sanctification. Less of me…more of Him.”
She lists several key verses that have shaped her life: Mark 10:45; Proverbs 31:28; Joshua 1:9; Jeremiah 29:11 and the key verse for kindergarten is 1 Timothy 4:12, “Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.”
When asked why she loves teaching at CLCS she says, “I love using my God given talents and spiritual gifts to lead others to and grow others for the Lord in a setting that welcomes His presence. I love the feeling of family here at CLCS.” Her greatest joys come in the growth and progress of her students. “It is such a joy to see the excitement on a child’s face when they realize they can!” She loves to see the moment when her students realize their need of a Savior. “It is a beautiful thing to watch students mature spiritually and live a life for His purposes, His Honor, and His glory.” Her energy and enthusiasm is contagious. If I could steal something that she often says to encourage her colleagues, Crystal, thanks for being AWESOME!
Congratulations on being selected as the Teacher in the Spotlight.
