Health/PE Class Sponsors Drive for AHA

CLCS Junior, Elijah Kaiser, was born with a heart condition. This year, the American Heart Association (AHA) chose Elijah to be featured on one of their posters! In honor of Elijah, Mrs. Witmer and her junior Health and PE class members sponsored a two-week drive in our elementary school to benefit the AHA.

Students who participated were rewarded with prizes and some fun events at school. Kindergartner, Catherine White, received first place for Most Donations and second grader, Greyson Hall, won second place.

AHA Director of School Engagement, Wendy Bradley, came to campus, shared a video, and spoke to kindergarten through fifth grade students about how to have a heart-healthy lifestyle and what to do in a cardiac emergency. The students took part in several stations where they participated in various heart-strengthening physical activities.  A highlight of the drive was when students who reached a certain level of participation and fund raising were allowed to shoot Elijah with silly string! Thanks to all who donated!
