Some field trips our class has taken:
WV Wildlife Center in French, WV
 
Some special events in our classroom have been:
1. Animal Project-Students write a report and do a tri-fold board on an animal from chosen World Region and Classification
 
2. Flat Stanley letters-After reading Flat Stanley, we will be sending letters to people in the World Regions (same region that they for their Animal Project)-student submitted or missionaries that I have contacted to be part of this project.
 
3. World Region Week Tri-fold board and report on a Country in their Region as well as a biography of a Christian who served in that Region (missionaries, preachers, etc.)  Also, World Region feast will be held on the Friday after the presentations.
 
4. Gladys Aylward-We read a novel on her life, make a notebook, and have a Gladys Aylward Day where we make crafts, play games, eat Chinese food, watch a video of her life, and do a dramatic reading of her life.  
 
Some of the academic skills we master are:
Math: Addition with Carrying, Subtraction with Borrowing, Multiplication tables 0-12, Multiplication by 2 digits, Long division, Graphing, Plain and Solid Shapes, Story Problems, Fractions, Averaging, Measurements, Time, and Money.
 
Grammar and Writing: Grammar-Sentences, Nouns, Verbs, Adjectives, Adverbs, Pronouns, and Prepositions
Writing-Sound Poems, Letter Writing, Persuasive Essay, Game Instructions, Biography, and Country Report
 
Reading-Two Readers with skills of Comprehension, Inferences, Main Idea, Sequences, Phonics, Syllabication, and Vocabulary taught plus two Novels-The Case of the Dognapped Cat and These Are My People
 
Science-Cells, Tissues, Organs, & Systems; Plants, Cold-blooded and Warm-blooded Animals, Ecosystems, Solar System, Weather, Rocks & Minerals, Matter & Sound, Forces, and Electricity & Magnets
 
World Regions– Map Skills and Geography, Government, Climate, Resources & Economics, Cultures, Religions of the Eight World Regions (Africa, Europe, Asia, Oceania, North America, The Caribbean, Central America, and South America).
 
Project: Country Day 
To conclude our study during May, each child does research on his chosen country and makes a mini booklet about it. Each also does research and a biography of a Christian missionary, preacher, medical personnel, teacher, etc.  On Country Day, they share their booklets and biographies.  They also share a food from their country to share with the class for lunch. 
 
Some of the Bible truths and verses we learn are:
Salvation, Parables, Samuel, Thanksgiving, David, Christmas, Elijah, Elisha, Ezra & Nehemiah, Resurrection, and Esther.
