Class of 2025 Commencement Held May 17

The graduation ceremony for the Class of 2025 was held in the CLCS gymnasium Saturday, May 17. Junior Marshalls for the ceremony were Mr. Christian Shamblin, Miss Chloe Beakes, and Miss Brandi Lovejoy. Mr. Evan Dunlap, student body president, passed the Benaiah Award to next year‘s student body president, Mr. Isaiah McFarland. Mrs. Mary Cumberledge, assistant administrator, presented years of service awards. Dr. Mitri Ghareeb, director of development, presented CLCS Honorary Alumni awards to Chad and Melody Dillon and Wesley and Tammy Burns. Mr. Eddie Riley, administrator, presented the Robert A. Canterbury Warrior’s Heart Volunteer Award to Mrs. Heather Ghareeb; the Teacher of the Year award to Mrs. Susan Sylvia, CLCS teacher of eight years; and retirement awards to Mrs. Betty Keller, Mr. Chuck Klennert, and Dr. Mitri Ghareeb.

Miss Savannah Clay, valedictorian, and Miss Hannah Dillon, salutatorian, presented  speeches. Senior Pastor of Cross Lanes Bible Church and CLCS alumnus, Ben Edwards, was the speaker for the ceremony. 

Mr. Riley presented the graduates with their diplomas as Mrs. Sumiko Clark, dean of women and high school science teacher, read each graduate’s biography recognizing their awards, academic accomplishments, and future plans. Miss Aleeya Ghareeb, senior class president, led the class in the traditional turning of the tassel. Mr. Mark Boyd provided piano music for the evening. Congratulations, Class of 2025!
